Last night (July 4, 2008) I went to see Enation (Joy's husbands band!) at the ever so famous Whiskey in West Hollywood, CA. I was there with my brother (this comes into play later) who had never seen the band and really had no idea what any of them looked like and didn't know really anything about them. To start the evening off we entered the club with Jonathan and Richard Jackson's parents and sister. Completely nice and sweet people. We got in and went to sit down to watch the other bands that were performing before Enation when I noticed Jonathan Jackson come and sit at the table next to us. His family joined him not too long after. Not but five minutes later I hear this voice yell "Hey!" and I recognized the voice and so I turned around to see how I would know this person and who is standing there but Joy. I had to do a double take. I was actually a little starstruck. Now, I have lived in Southern California for quite a while and have seen many stars but for some reason I became starstruck. She stood there for a while and and talked to her friends that she had arrived with. She even visited the bar before heading downstairs to stand with Michael. These two are so cute together. He had his arms wrapped around here most of the time, and they were swaying to the music. At one point Joy wanted to get a booth that was reserved and required a $100 minimum that you spend at the bar and on food but Michael talked her out of it, so they came upstairs again and sat at the table next to us again. It was just a little surreal. Right before the band started playing Joy went around asking everyone in her party if they had a nail file. Apparently she had broken a nail. While the band was setting up she was dancing to the songs that were being played. The one in particular that I remember was Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc. I remember this song because I was dancing to it also and my brother was making fun of me. Everytime Joy was talking to anyone she was so animated. She completely uses her hands to tell a story.

Now when the band started playing I went downstairs toward the stage and realized I was standing with Enation's family, all of them (parents, wives and siblings). Joy was really getting into the music. The cutest parts were when Michael and her would make eye contact and there were little smiles or winks. To all who are wondering yes they played "Feel This" but not the Joy version. The other version released with her version. Jonathan actually brought his wife on stage to sing and Joy was taking pictures it was so adorable. Jonathan's wife can sing beautifully also. And she is super nice too. During the set it was really cute when the band members would make eye contact with their families. You could tell they were excited to have them there. When Joy and Michael made eye contact she did that little wink/nose scrunch thing she does. It was so cute. There was on part of a song where Michael really gets to lay into the keyboard and get riled up. I looked over at Joy and she was jumping and screaming. You could just see the pride on her face. Joy was singing along with the music and raising her hands, you could tell she was having an awesome time.

So Enation's set ended and people started noticing her. I think they did before but were trying to be polite. Joy was hanging around the stage waiting for the band to come off stage. She pulled some gum from her purse and walked over to the stage and put it in Michael's mouth. After he came off the stage he immediately walked over to her and gave her a kiss. Joy was hanging around the stage and club waiting and just being like any other person at the club.

One embarrassing side note: my brother was being annoying and making my head do the head banging motion to some of the music playing while I was trying to text message. I went along with it and did the rock sign with my free hand and when I looked up Joy was watching us and laughing! I was just a little embarassed to say the least. But hey we are dorks! I had been messaging a friend of mine who loves Joy and she totally did not believe me that Joy was there so I asked my brother if he would take a pictured. He agreed to take the picture, pointing out the he had no idea who she was. We walked outside and I was getting ready to ask Joy for a picture when my brother disappears. I was so upset with him. I just stood there waiting and returning a text message when suddenly I hear a voice say, "Excuse me ma'am?" I look up and it was my brother! Yes my brother called Joy ma'am (his very good excuse is that he was in the Navy and trained to call everyone sir or ma'am, but still embarrasing). He continued on to say, "My sister would like a picture with you, would that be alright?" Her ever so bubbly response was "Yeah of course, where is she?" He pointed over to me and I smiled and waved. She came right over to me and said, "Hi! What's your name?" I managed to utter my name. She said, "Nice to meet you ------, I am Joy."

I actually had been thinking about stuff to say but nothing except "Nice to meet you" came out. We discussed the show which I said was awesome and then turned to give my brother the camera and proceeding to tell him, "You are so walking hom!" Joy laughed and said, "Don't be embarrassed. Let's do this!" We then turned to take the picture. My brother is a little bit of a dork and was having some difficulty operating the camera and so she started laughing at him, which in turn made him laugh. After taking the picture she kind of half hugged you know how you hug with one arm and said have a great rest of the night, in which the only response from me was "Thank you and you do the same." She retuned to her group of friends she was standing with (the other wives and parents of the band). We actually stood in front of the club for awhile before leaving (my brother smokes and he is not allowed to smoke in the car so I was waiting for him to finish). The band was taking pictures in front of the club and Joy kept kind of looking over at us and laughing. Apparently my brother and I are very entertaining. We were just being ourselves. He is a foot taller than me and likes to pick on me so you can imagine what happens. He kept taking my camera and taking random pictures of everything. Annoying! But that is what brothers are for.

As we were leaving we had to walk through the band and their wives (Joy included) and I had said jokingly that I was tired of walking and wanted a piggy back ride, so as we were walking my brother stops right in front them, I was about 5 step behind, so I ran up and jumped on his back. I heard a gasp and then laughter and when I turned my head it was Joy and her friends and they said "Careful" I just laughed and then my brother ran off. It was actually pretty funny!!

Kind of something weird I noticed: her shoes were super cute but she has tiny feet. I have a love of shoes - I have like 2 closets full of shoes so I look at everyone's shoes. They were really cute wedges that made her really tall! They went very well with her outfit. She was wearing jeans that were weathered and had holes in them with a green tank with embroidery and layered with a pink tank and blue bra. She kept putting her hair up and then taking it down. Either way it looked cute.

The best part of the whole story comes a day later when my brother is telling this story to his friend. He kept telling his friend how he got to meet a famous person and didn't even know who she was. His friend was making fun of him and asked if she was at least cute. My brother's response "I have to admit she was a very attractive woman!" Plus he kept telling everyone that we are so entertaining that even famous people watch us!

Where: The 5th Annual OTH Basketball Charity Game

Lee Norris- OMG, very nice guy! When I got to him in the autograph line he said he really liked my shirt and I told him that he was cute. Haha. He’s the only one that I got a picture of looking straight at me. He acted like he really wanted to talk to me. Bethany Joy Galeotti- Also a very nice person. She got up and walked through the autograph line near the end of the day. When Joy got to us my cousin asked her if she would sign with our silver pen (because our pictures were dark) and Jess didn’t even realize that Joy was already holding a silver pen. So there was some laughter about that. We also told Joy thanks for staying all day and she said “sure, no problem”. James Lafferty- Nice, but a little shy. (James had told everyone earlier that you could only get one thing signed by each person) I had 2 things I was getting signed, a cast picture I brought from home and a bag I bought at the game. Of course I wanted James to sign the cast pic, but Stephen passed James the bag so fast that I didn’t have time to stop him from signing it. I made some sort of noise that indicated I didn’t want James signing my bag and he looked up at me and said “here, let me sign this” (taking my cast pic). So now I have 2 things signed by James Lafferty, Yay! Jackson Brundage- Cuttest kid ever!!! He handed me some starburst while I was waiting in line for autographs. Sophia Bush- We had 6 girls in our group and we made our shirts for the game. On the back they had letters that spelled out WE(heart)OTH. During half-time a woman for some news station asked to come down on the court and get them on camera. Well, Sophia came up to us and said “nice” and told us that she liked them. Then she handed us some starburst. Yeah, starburst were really popular that day! LoL Vaughn Wilson- Nice guy, and funny too. He’s the only one I got a picture with at the game. He came and sat with us in the bleachers and talked for a good while. Joe (Owen)- OMG, sweetest personality! My sister got him on tape saying “Hi Madison!” He looked very good Saturday with his tan too! All of the other cast members were nice too. No one disappointed me! The OTH cast is AWESOME!

Meeting Joy was absolutely fantastic. I was on the front row and she was one row in front of me where the players were sitting. At one point she came to talk to Michaela and Lisa who were arm's length of me and I was just in awe. She's so much more gorgeous in person. They all are, in my opinion. She didn't stay out during the whole game, but she was back for autographs. When it was my turn, they started playing the song "My Cherona" and she was like "Oh snap!" I guess b/c she liked the song, and she started singing it while she was signing my picture. I told her I loved her music and she said "Thank you. That is so awesome." Jackson was the cutest little kid I've ever seen. He was dancing on the court and playing basketball. He threw out Starburst candy. I caught one of them thrown by him. He was so sweet. When he was signing my picture, I told him Thank You and he just smiled at me. James, on the other hand, didn't have much to say. He was talking to Mark about how many more people they had to go through. Mark said something about them being a third of the way through. I don't know if he was ready to get out of there or what. But he signed my picture and told me thanks for coming. He was so gorgeous! The whole experience was great. Lisa and Michaela were so nice. I told Lisa I loved her dress and she was like thank you, it's one of my favorites too. She was so sweet.

Where: Macy's signing in Seattle

So my sister Brittany and I went to Macy's 3 hours early to stand in line to meet Joy. She was number 51 and I was number 52. We both couldn't wait to meet her, although Brittany considers Joy her idol and was almost to the point of freaking out. haha Time went by really fast and when we got up to the table to see her, we seriously did freak out. Brittany talked to her a lot longer than I did, and she is also the one in the picture, because my photo didn't turn out. But Brittany, Joy and I talked for almost 5 minutes and Brittany considers it the best 4-5 minutes of her life. haha We were both really surprised of how down to earth Joy is, and how she is even more gorgeous in person than she is on OTH which is hard to believe since she is so cute on TV. haha We talked about how she liked living in Washington and who her best friend is on the set of OTH (Hilarie Burton). It was like having a chat with a best friend. She definitely is now my idol too, and love watching her even more every Tuesday.
